Lillibridge to develop new Cancer Care Center of Decatur
FIRM WORKS WITH BAKER'S DOZEN, LLC ON NEW 55,000 SQUARE FOOT FACILITY
CHICAGO IL, Apr-9, 2008 – Furthering its plans for growth in the healthcare real estate market, Chicago-based Lillibridge, one of the nation's largest private healthcare real estate firms, has signed a development agreement with Baker's Dozen, LLC, in Decatur, Ill.
The new Cancer Care Center of Decatur will be a single-story 55,000 square foot facility on a 6.5 acre site which is at the northeast corner of McKinley Avenue and Union Street, and is adjacent to the Decatur Memorial Hospital campus. Construction will begin on the building in the fall of 2008, and should be completed within a 12-month timeline. The facility will house both medical and radiation oncology services.
"This is the first time we've worked with Baker's Dozen, LLC and we're looking forward to it," says Todd W. Lillibridge, Chairman and CEO of the healthcare real estate firm Lillibridge. "Their physician group had outgrown its old space and they wanted to be closer to the hospital campus. We are glad that we were chosen to help them bring this new cancer center to the people of Decatur."
Baker's Dozen, LLC is a group of 12 cancer specialists that have formed a limited liability company for the purpose of owning and managing the facility. James Lloyd Wade, III, M.D., FACP, is a member the group. "We are glad to be working with Lillibridge on this development," says Dr. Wade. "They came highly recommended by the management team of Decatur Memorial Hospital. Lillibridge has been a great help to us in navigating the very complex regulatory structure that a joint physician / hospital practice must operate under. Their management team helped us determine ways to combine excellent engineering for the building with a plan that fit all the rules for regulatory compliance." In addition to being a member of the Baker's Dozen, LLC, Dr. Wade is also the President of Cancer Care Specialists of Central Illinois.
When it is complete, approximately 50 percent of the building will be leased by Decatur Memorial Hospital, and the balance will be leased by the medical oncology group which is made up of physicians from Baker's Dozen, LLC. Two linear accelerators will be part of the Decatur Memorial space.
